Day 5: “Lazy Day”

We woke up this morning to Grandpa asking if we could have a lazy day today.  Considering we have been running non-stop, we thought, ‘sure what the heck’.  Well there is a reason that I put lazy day in quotes.  We ended up going to the bus station to find out about the route to Cabarete for tomorrow.  Then we went back to La Sirena (grocery store).  Then Grandpa dropped Anna and I off at Anna’s daughter’s apartment to get our nails done.  While we were getting beautified, Kevin and Grandpa went to another bus station to check their routes and then sat on the beach for a drink and lunch.  Finally, we came home for our “lazy day”.  The sun and these dang allergies are kicking my butt, so I did lay down for a nap.

Then we just kinda laid around the house.  We also attempted doing laundry.  The laundry detergent instructions were in all Spanish…thankfully I was able to read it and avoid a disaster with the soap.  Last thing I need is to flood the main floor with soapy water.  So my Spanish skills saved the day again (b/c Anna was taking a nap at the time…plus we don’t want her to think that we are completely helpless).  Just to clarify, I have done my own laundry, but I have never used powder soap before.  So that was an adventure.

Well I think that is pretty much the extent of our lazy day.  Oh yeah…we lost power this morning for probably four hours or so.  It’s a pretty common occurrence down here.  Grandpa has a backup generator that can power his house for a two day outage if necessary.  Only certain plugs are set up on the generator though, which is kinda funny considering the Tv made the cut, but the refrigerator did not lol.

Not bad for 150 pesos (less than $4).  Anna’s daughter has a set up in one of her rooms in her apartment.

Sitting on the front balcony.  Probably one of our favorite places of the whole house.  The view is pretty and breeze is perfect.  It very well could be the coolest (both physically and mentally) place in his house.
