I definitely failed at blogging at all yesterday due to the hectic day. As I said before, we were bumped off the flight on Wednesday (they “cancelled” the flight, yet it still took off). So we were not assigned seats from Miami to Chicago thus being put on the standby list which is pretty crappy considering we paid full price for our tickets. Once we made it to Miami, we had a treacherous time through customs and immigration… Never, I repeat, Never go to the Miami airport. They are totally clueless. Thankfully we made it through in time. The airlines held the connecting flight to Chicago for those of us that were held up in customs. Once we made it through immigration, I made a friend. I kick myself for not getting a picture with her, because she was the sweetest lady ever! She was from Colombia and spoke not one word of English. So once again, I put my Spanish skills to work and helped her get through all this mess. Poor lady would have never made it. But she was right in front of me when we went through the first set of security getting off the plane and she noticed I was heading to the same connector flight. She grabbed my wrist and didn’t let go until we got her safely onto the plane. Once we landed in Chicago, she waited for us to get off the plane to help her to get her “bolsa” (bag). Thankfully her grandson (or at least I assume it was her grandson) was waiting when we came down into baggage. I didn’t know what we would have done if she didn’t have a ride somewhere. But he thanked me for helping getting her here, and she gave me a hug. =) I wish I had a picture of us to show everyone but sadly I don’t. But just picture the sweetest little Grandma you can imagine, and you can see her.
Well I suppose this will be my last post for this series of my travel blog. Until next time…maybe Hong Kong?!?
