Hello Traffic…

What did we see today?
-NY Skyline
-NJ Turnpike

What did we experience?
-Car not starting
-Rude Target Employee
-Queens Midtown Tunnel
-Lincoln Tunnel
-NY Traffic

Our morning started rocky with our rental car not starting… I ended up asking the guy behind the counter if they had jumper cables and he looked at me like I just fell off the tractor. He said he could call a cab, and they may be able to help… Which we did not take him up on. The bell hop recommended we call the rental car company, and we ended up having to pay for ‘emergency assistance’. Back where I come from, we just jump someone’s car if they need it, not wait around for help just to turn around and pay for it. I’ll stick to living in the Midwest…

Then we stopped for lunch and also at Target to pick something up, and we had our next adventure. There were two people in front of us in line… the lady directly in front of us was a woman probably in her 60s, and there was a man in probably his 70s ahead of her. This man was on some type of government assistance I’m assuming, but when he paid for his stuff his total came up to be 1 cent. The Target cashier asked him if he had a penny… he shook his head. She asked again a little louder, and he said no. By that time the lady in front of us and I were both looking through our purse for a penny. Kevin then piped up and said that we had one… and I handed it to the cashier, not a big deal. The lady in front of us thanked us, and we moved on. Now I would have done that for anyone regardless, but it bugs me how rude the Target employee was. This man was very apparently on a fixed income with government assistance for his food, and you have to harass him about a penny?? Once again, I’ll stick to the Midwest where people are nice…

We finally arrived to our hotel, and it is very nice. I almost wish we were staying here longer, but we added a third stop to our trip… so we have a lot to accomplish in this short time.

We started by driving to Queens for a nice little romantic dinner at a restaurant that had a view of the Manhattan skyline.  We had 8 miles to drive, and we drove for almost 90 minutes.  The traffic was crazy, but it was fun driving through Times Square seeing all the huge buildings.  Plus we had to go through the Lincoln Tunnel and the Queens Midtown Tunnel which was a very strange experience… plus we had to pay to go through them.  In all today, we spent about $30 in tolls ($16 just for driving in the two Tunnels on the way to the restaurant). But it was fun, and the view was spectacular from the boardwalk outside the restaurant. so now the fun stuff…until tomorrow!

On our way to dinner <3
