I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve been singing the theme song to Fresh Prince since we arrived in Philly last night =)
Today we explored Philadelphia –
– Liberty Bell (Long security check, but the bell was cool. I’ve always liked learning about it.)
– Betsy Ross House
– Christ Church (I sat in the pews that George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Betsy Ross once sat in back then, you paid for a pew and sat in the same one every service which is why they know for sure I sat where Mr. Washington sat.)
– Carpenter’s Hall (The location for the first Continental Congress in 1774)
– Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia (I learned that back in the 1800s postage stamps were actually used as currency, and that there was a metal enclosure that was invented just to hold a stamp that made it look like a coin… stamps can still be used as tender although you probably would get some very strange looks if you try.)

Valley Forge was kind of interesting… I’ve never been that interested in the Revolutionary War (I’m more of a WWII kind of learner), but Kevin enjoyed it a lot and we saw some really pretty scenery while we drove around.
Oh also… Mitt Romney was in town — In Philly and in Valley Forge for a banquet. We thought about going to the fundraiser just for kicks, but the price tag was a little too high … $25,000 a piece. So we skipped it. So basically we stalked the President and the Presidential Candidate all trip. Saw Obama leaving the White House in DC, Obama was speaking in NYC the day we arrived, and Romney was in Philly. This really was the all American trip.
Well since tonight is our last night for vacation, I guess this will be my last blog unless we do something really interesting on the way to the airport… Our flight isn’t until the afternoon — so you never know!
