A Magical Day

Apologies in advance as I’m practically falling asleep while typing this.  It has been a long, but magical day! We started out going to the train station to see the Harry Potter steam train, and then we headed out to the Glenfinnan Viaduct which is the only location outside of Britain that Harry Potter was filmed. We hiked through a swamp to get to the viaduct even though there was a perfectly good paved trail we could have used. Kevin thought the swamp would be better… We watched the steam train pass over the viaduct which was so, so, so cool. Definitely worth the walk through the swamp.  Right as we were getting settled into our spot, a lady from Britain walked passed and said this looks just like the film! When she walked back by, she said, it was so worth it, eh? We replied, definitely! Her son and daughter (they were probably 5 and 6) were walking back down the path reciting a bunch of Harry Potter facts – That’s a family teaching their kids right!

We then drove all the way to Isle of Skye which is where we will be for the next two nights. We decided to check out the Fairy Pools before heading to the bed and breakfast, and they turned out to be a huge hike with waterfalls all over the place.  Gorgeous, but exhausting hike.  Checked in to the Bed and Breakfast to meet our new proprietors… they are quite an entertaining pair! I’m pretty sure they are going to keep us laughing the whole time we are here.  Gorgeous view from our window of the loch again, however they didn’t mention the famous athlete, so maybe we just got lucky on this one.

Well I better stop here, the internet is going to be shut off soon. We can’t quite figure out why they shut it off at night and don’t turn it back on until after breakfast, but I suppose that is just as well. We need sleep.
